Tenafeate School operated for children who lived in the vicinity of Para Wirra.
It was used between 1937 and 1951 and was of prefabricated construction.
The area was named Tenafeate after the residence of a Scotsman, John Campbell
who originally settled in that part of the district. He built a two-storey
residence which
he called Tenafeate, an adaptation of a Gaelic name meaning 'The Whistling
House'.
