STRADLING

Sir William Stradling (d. in or before 1407), though a leading Glamorgan tenant, and steward and receiver of Gower in 1398–1402, married Isabel, daughter of John St Barbe; he often resided in Somerset, where he augmented his property at Watchet and was sheriff in 1403. He patronized Ewenni Priory, Glamorgan, and not long before his death, which had occurred by February 1407, he went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land and became a knight of the holy sepulchre. His widow, Isabel, received Combe Hay manor and the Watchet lands, valued at £20 per annum. Oxford Dictionary National Biography
