                            Robert Spiller arrived in South Australia in 1839 on the Prince Regent, with his wife and 3
                            young children & William Ewens & his family.

                            He commenced business in Tam O Shanter Place.   In 1840 he bought Mr Hack's brickyard
                            in Melbourne St, Adelaide.  He also had an interest in the Willunga Slate Quarries.   

                            In March 1844 he took the Licence of the Plow & Harrow Hotel - transferred the licence
                            to William Ewens. 

                            In 1846/47 he had the licence of the Emu Hotel, Morphett Vale & died in May 1847 at the Hotel.
